Scott’s Groove: Back To Back Wins For Best House Producer At LMA24

Maseru- In the ever evolving world of house music, Lehlohonolo Seitlheko, better known as Scott has proven that consistency and innovation can pave the way to greatness. Winning “Best House Producer” at the “Lesotho Music Awards (LMAs)” for the second, consecutive year, Scott has cemented his place as a powerhouse in the industry.

Inspired Beginnings Scott’s journey began with a deep appreciation for music that transcended borders. His love for “Sgija”, an Amapiano subgenre, was sparked by none other than Josiah De Disciple. “He was at the forefront of producing Sgija, which was the sound I was interested in,” Scott explains.

This inspiration fueled his desire to create a signature sound, blending influences from Hip-Hop, Old-School R&B and from his time in Johannesburg. “I am always told my music does not sound like it was produced by a Mosotho. I do not know how either, but I guess that is what makes it stand out,” he reflects.

The Victory Lap

Winning back-to-back awards in a competitive category is no small feat, especially for someone who is relatively new to the scene. “Winning this category once again was a surprise to some extent because I am a new guy here in Maseru, and I was against some of my peers in the industry who are also very dope,” Scott admits.

Despite the competition, Scott’s music resonated with listeners, earning him their votes and trust. “Winning the award once again told me I am on the right track, doing what people love. If that was not the case, I would not have received the votes,” he humbly says.

Scott is deeply grateful to his fans for their unwavering support. “From the bottom my heart, thank you to everyone who voted for me with their hard-earned money. I am nothing without you all,” he says, dedicating his award to those who have been with him since day one.

Staying True To The Sound

For Scott, success comes from staying authentic. “Lessons? Do not beg. Also, stay true to your sound,” he advises. His unique approach to House music, influenced by a blend of Southern African sounds and his personal experiences, has made him a standout artist. Scott is also committed to expanding his musical horizons through collaborations. This year, he plans to work on joint projects with artists from Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. “It is all about connecting and creating,” he says.

Championing The Industry

Scott’s back to back wins are not just a victory for him but for Lesotho’s ever expanding music scene. “The LMAs are doing a really great job. They help a lot in empowering creatives in the country,” he observes. However he believes there is room for growth. “The Lesotho music industry has great potential. We just need substantial support in the entertainment and arts industry. The entire industry needs proper chartering.” he emphasizes.

Looking Ahead

With his sight set on more collaborative projects and continued innovation, Scott is determined to keep the momentum going. His advice to aspiring artists? To trust their process, remain authentic, and never forget the people who support you. “Winning this award is a win for everyone who voted for me. I win, they have won and this is a collective victory” Scott alerts.

As the Lesotho music industry continues to rise, Scott stands tall (literally) as a beacon of creativity and dedication. With his unique sound and unwavering passion, the back-to-back Best House Producer winner is proving that the rhythm of success is best danced to with authenticity at heart.
