MASERU-A CHALLENGE WITH PURPOSE? Deejay Zaca’s Motho Oa Pelo challenge is more than just a music competition—it’s a platform for upcoming artists to showcase their talent. Inspired by previous challenges, Zaca saw an opportunity to give rising musicians a chance to be heard.
“I never thought it was going to be this big. It’s beyond my expectations, even bigger than me,” he admits. However, he embraces the challenge’s impact and remains committed to using it as a stepping stone for new talent. As he works on his upcoming project, he hopes to discover promising artists from the challenge to collaborate with in the future. THE SONG & ARTIST SELECTION
Long before the challenge, Zaca had discussions with Sannere and Phoka about working together. When he created the beat for Motho Oa Pelo, they were the first names that came to mind. Their lyrical approach gave the song a motivational feel, offering hope to aspiring artists.
“This is not just a normal Hip-Hop song—it’s motivational,” Zaca explains. He has always prioritized uplifting messages in his music, as seen in his previous EP, which featured tracks like Mohlolo and Ditoro. With Motho Oa Pelo, he continues his mission of inspiring and supporting upcoming artists.
FUTURE PLANS FOR THE SONG
The vision for Motho Oa Pelo extends far beyond the challenge. “We had plans even before dropping this,” Zaca says. Determined to take the movement to the next level, he encourages people to focus on the future despite the challenges they may face.
With Motho Oa Pelo, Deejay Zaca is proving that music can be a vehicle for change, inspiring young artists to believe in their dreams and push forward. The challenge is just the beginning—its impact will be felt long after the last verse is recorded.
