Adren’s Story to LMA24 Best Male Artist

Maseru - The Genesis of Greatness

Adren’s jouney to becoming the “Best Male Artist” at the Lesotho Music Awards (LMA24) began humbly, in the vibrant community of Ha- Mabote. He fondly recalls the gospel- infused mornings of his childhood, with his family’s unwavering love for Lesedi FM (RSA) and Harvest FM (Lesotho) forming his earliest music memories. “That’s where it all started for me”, says Adren with nostalgia. Born Bohlokoa Taaso, Adren attributes his talent to Yahweh (Jesus), Adren credits his older brother for guiding him in finding his authentic tune. “It is in my charisma; you can feel that what I do comes from the heart” he emphasizes. As a child, he admired international icons such as: Lil Wayne, Will.I.am and Pharell Williams but in high school, South African artists such as : Nasty C and A-Reece caught his attention, while locally, he gives all his credit to Jiji-F. However, it was Blxckie who truly inspired him in 2019, when Adren stumbled upon his work on Instagram. “Till this day, Blxckie plays an impactful role on me,” he shares.

Adren’s unique sound stands out in a country where Famo and Ts’epe dominate the musical landscape. “I come from a middle-classe family, which means I have experienced both sides of life. Doing a sound so different from what the masses are consuming, and still being able to rise to the top, is proof of what Yahweh has appointed and anointed in me,” he declares.

The Award Experience

Winning Best Male Artist at LMA24 was a defining moment for Adren. “It is an undeniable confirmation that there is a new King and Kingdom in the world,” he says. Despite his confidence, he admits his nerves were getting the best of him. “Even the strongest man does not fully know when Yahweh will lift them,” he reflects.

For Adren, the award was not just a win; it was a moment of gratitude. “I thanked Yeshua and My Ancestors first,” he recalls. Close friends celebrated with him, and Adren remains humble and grounded. “Look, my success is your success. You guys made the perfect choice because you have been tapped into this journey,” he tells his supporters.

The Creative Process

Adren’s artistry is as unconventional as his journey. Winning the LMA24 award was about an entire experience that resonates with his fans. “I am independent- no label, no agency support. Just me. There is a new King,” he proudly states.

He loves recording and mixing his own vocals but also values collaboration in studios. “I am an overachiever, and I embrace both approaches,” he shares. Challenges like meeting deadlines while juggling a heavy recording schedule have been part of the process, but Adren sees them as stepping stones. “What I bring is an entirely unorthodox sound with diverse flows and relatable bars brewed from positive energy,” he explains.

Redefining The Industry

Adren sees his LMA24 win as a game-changer. “It means I am in the big leagues now,” he expresses proudly. Comparing himself to an eagle, he views the accolade as a symbol of his rise after years of self-improvement. “The sky is big enough for all birds, but the eagle flies the highest,” he says with conviction.

This milestone amplifies his commitment to the craft. “It is a huge charge-up, especially for artists already working hard before and after the win,” Adren observes. The Lesotho music industry, he believes, is evolving, and his presence signifies a colossal improvement.

With his unique sound and unwavering faith, Adren is not just making music- he is shaping a legacy. As he continues to break boundaries, the country eagerly watches this rising star who refuses to conform to the status quo. “Do not be afraid to be different,” he advises. “Look at me and my story.”
